Alex Middleton, MA, LAPC

Hello! I am glad you have found your way here. I am Alex, and I am a trauma therapist and a Marriage and Family psychotherapist. I enjoy working with a trauma-informed approach alongside the family system, whether that plays out in in individual therapy, or in couples or family therapy. I am passionate about helping my clients find the human spirit of resiliency within themselves, and that no matter where he, she, or they find themselves in life, there is always hope on the other side. Sometimes we just need another person walking with us.

I approach therapy with a laid-back yet honest posture, and I love to incorporate parts work, brain-based mindfulness, and somatic interventions that bring awareness to what our bodies are trying to tell us about our thoughts and emotions. I find myself drawn to working at this intersection of the mind-body connection and applying this with trauma-informed parts work to help clients suffering with complex trauma, including sexual trauma and emotional abuse, as well as divorce, LGBTQ+ issues, gender identity, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, self-harm, and relational problems.

I currently work with adolescents, young adults, couples, and families. I am also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Intermediate Level 3 (SEP 2), and trained as a yoga teacher (YTT) to be able to better implement practices of mindfulness and embodiment with my clients.

If your mind and body are telling you that we would be a good fit, please feel free to contact me at alex@eastatlantacounseling.com or 404-458-7964.

Alex is located at our Decatur location for in-person sessions and telehealth.

She is supervised by Celia Webb, LPC, SEP, CPCS.
