Caroline Parsley, Master’s of Counseling Intern

None of us will walk through life without experiencing pain, but I believe our wounds were made to heal in the presence of an empathetic witness. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, therapy can be a space to experience the healing power of an attuned, empathetic, and curious presence.

As a therapist, I can’t promise that I will be able to take away your pain or difficult situation. Nor would I necessarily want to because I believe - and have personally experienced - the truth that “discomfort is the price of admission for a meaningful life” (Susan David). Although I often wish this weren’t the case, I believe that feeling and engaging our pain is the only way to move through it. And oftentimes, this is where we experience the greatest growth and transformation.

But we were not meant to do this hard work alone. It would be an honor to walk alongside you and offer insight and support as we explore your unique story. Together we will work to give meaning to past experiences, change your relationship with your thoughts, learn new ways of relating to others, and build more understanding and trust in yourself. My hope is that through our work together, you will begin to experience more freedom, joy, and connection - both with others and with yourself.

I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety & depression, grief & loss, relational & religious trauma, shame & self-esteem issues, and relational difficulties. My faith is meaningful to me, and I welcome working with people of all faith backgrounds.

I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English, and I am currently earning a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Trauma Counseling from Richmont Graduate University.
